Lean Manufacturing

Educational institutions offer certificate and degree programs to address the demand for technically sophisticated workers in an online environment accessible 24/7.

Industry partners train workers to stay ahead of the competition without the downtime and costs associated with traditional training.

Workforce development initiatives cost effectively tailor training to local and individual needs.

Value added - this is the battle cry of modern manufacturing. Oxygen Education’s Lean Manufacturing teaches learners ways to identify and eliminate waste in order to improve quality, reduce production time, and decrease cost: distilling down manufacturing processes to what is value added. Studying lean principles empowers learners to identify and eliminate wasteful practices and implement the lean practice of providing customers with products of the highest quality, at the lowest cost, in the shortest lead time. Oxygen Education offers Lean Manufacturing courses designed to be implemented as a complete study of lean or as individual educational tools in your move to lean manufacturing techniques.

Introduction to Lean

The Introduction to Lean course uses a sensei (accomplished teacher) to:

Lean Overview and Workplace Organization

Lean Overview and Workplace Organization is an introduction to the 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) principles and how they fit into the workplace. This course grounds learners in pertinent lean manufacturing background and why workplace organization is so critical. Learners gain an understanding of each component of 5S – what each area means, why it is critical, what the requirements are to implement it, the
commitment needed to keep it alive, and how it is executed in the workplace.

5S - Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain

5S takes learners on a detailed journey of each 5S area, from the goal through to implementation. Learners gain an understanding of how to prepare to launch each area, including key actions needed during implementation. 5S teaches learners to distill the workplace into the necessary items needed while removing those that do not add value.

The course covers:

Lean Theory

Lean Theory focuses on identifying and eliminating waste. Learners study the elements, rules, and tools of lean theory and how to employ them in removing waste from manufacturing processes. From leadership to team functioning to shop floor layout to inventory management, Lean Theory grounds learners in the concepts and practices needed to make lean manufacturing work. Key topics include:
