Learning Management System (LMS) Integration

Oxygen Education believes students benefit when content is delivered in a familiar platform they regularly use. To provide an enhanced student experience and enable institutions to leverage their investments in Learning Management Systems (LMS), Oxygen has perfected integration with a variety of LMS, including Blackboard, WebCT, ANGEL, GeoLearning, Plateau, and SumTotal.

Integration Methods

Integration between Oxygen content and an LMS can be achieved in several ways. The preferred method is to use the SCORM interoperability standard. Utilizing SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) allows content to function interactively in various platforms and enables single sign-on and results reporting with a SCORM compliant LMS.
Oxygen integrates with a SCORM compliant LMS using either SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004. SCORM 1.2 is the more widely adopted standard and Oxygen’s preferred integration standard.

Reduced Administrative Overhead: Using content within the LMS allows the content to be deployed in the same fashion as all other content at the institution, reducing administrative overhead.
Adaptive Learning Paths: Many LMS provide tools that allow the creation of Adaptive Learning Paths. Integrating Oxygen content into the LMS allows instructors and instructional designers to differentiate learning for various types of students.
Assessment and Grade Book Integration: Integrating Oxygen assessment questions into the LMS allows schools to use the grade book provided in the LMS to manage student grades.
Standardized Interface Branding: Institutions that have invested in branding the LMS user interface can extend that investment across Oxygen content.

Integration Process

Oxygen Education has developed a standard process to facilitate the transition of Oxygen content into learning management systems. The process connects Oxygen servers and a client’s LMS to enable data to communicate between the two. Oxygen technical support staff works with your LMS administrator to:

Integrate Oxygen content into the LMS
Test content, integration, and assessments
Customize the user interface to match client logos and branding

Once integrated, Oxygen has the ability to update client course listings by simply emailing SCORM packages to administrators, then running the packages to enable communication between the new courses and the Oxygen system.
